Learning Together

Demystifying the learning process will be at the heart of our efforts!  We each need to have an on-going sense of accomplishment to stay motivated and persevere.  Productive struggle leads to mastery and lasting confidence.  Being provided the "just right" level of support means to be taught to understand the content, while also being coached in how to reflect on one's own thinking processes and learning habits.  Our shared trust will develop into your student's growth as an effective independent learner, prepared to explore the stars!

My private practice is primarily focused on working with children/students to address:

  • Executive functioning development, 6th Grade through College

  • Study skill development, 6th Grade through College

    • With potential to integrate foundational skill refinement in reading, spelling, and writing, 6th-7th Grade

I have found that living through at least one semester together creates the strongest coaching relationship with long-lasting impact, so I prioritize accepting students looking for at least semester-long engagements.

I especially recommend establishing fall semester services proactively when transitioning from elementary to middle school, middle school to high school or high school to college.  There is an embedded jump in demand for greater levels of independence (essentially stronger executive functioning) for a learner within each of these transition points.  These often unsupported demands combined with the increasing complexity of the content of study can quickly become overwhelming.  I understand the elements involved and my services serve well to provide a sense of balance and confidence for the learner.

I am able to work effectively with a range of student needs.  I have worked successfully with neurotypical students and neurodiverse students with diagnoses ranging from ADHD, mild Dyslexia/Dysgraphia, Anxiety and mild ASD (without additional language or cognitive challenges.)

RATE for STUDENT SERVICES

$150 per hour.  A session with a student runs for 55                     minutes/billed as one hour.   A contract for a semester long         engagement averages $3,500, but varies according to the             student's needs/schedule of services.

Individual services for students age 11+ are available via

Zoom with an in-person Home Visit scheduled during the             first three weeks of services for Bay Area clients when                 possible, with a charge for my travel time.   Individual                   services for students in 6th grade require regular                         parent involvement.
